AI is creating scams and phishing attacks at new levels of speed and scale with over 38,000 new phishing sites launched each day in the first half of 2024.
Cybercriminals are using a multi-pronged approach, leveraging email, text, social media, fake websites and voice calls to expand the attack surface. Social media originated phishing attacks grew 170%.
Nation-state threat actors are launching US presidential related phishing attacks, spam campaigns and data breaches. China, Russia and Iran are driving 75% of the activity.
May is a hotspot month for phishing attacks targeting summer consumers. Phishing sites grew 2x from May 2023 to May 2024.
